Shri. T.S. John, who has had the distinction of adorning the Chairs of Speaker and Minister, was born on 21-10-1939 at Kaviyoor, as the son of Shri. Mathai.

An active member of students movements while at SB College, Changanachery, he subsequently became a Member of Kaviyoor Panchayat.

A lawyer by profession, Shri. John who is one of the founder members of Kerala Congress became elected to KLA from Kallooppara constituency, four times. He became a Member of the Assembly for the first time, when he was elected to the 4th KLA as a Kerala Congress Member. Later, he was elected to the 5th, 7th and 10th KLA.

He graced the Chair of Speaker of the 4th Kerala Legislative Assembly for a short period from 17-2-1976 to 25-3-1977.

Shri. T.S. John also served as the Minister for Food & Civil Supplies from 19-10-1978 to 27-10-1978 in the A.K.Antony Ministry. In the reconstituted Ministry that followed under the leadership of Shri.P.K.Vasudevan Nair, he continued to be the Minister for Food & Civil Supplies, for the period from 29-10-1978 to 7-10-1979.

Shri. John is presently the Working Chairman of Kerala Congress (Secular).

His wife is Smt. Aleykutty and they have a son.
