Shri. T.A. Thomman, Advocate and Congress leader, was born at Poonjar.
Enrolling as an Advocate at Palai, he had served for some time as Member of Palai Municipal Council,
and also as member of Travancore - Cochin Pradesh Congress Committee.
Shri.Thomman became elected to the first and second Kerala Legislative Assembly from Poonjar
constituency, as a Congress candidate. From 2.3.1964 to 10.9.1964, he handled the Portfolios of Law and Revenue, in the third Ministry headed by Shri.R.Sankar.
In the course of a long public life, Shri. Thomman had held several high positions. He had served as
the Chief Whip of Congress Parliamentary Party in 1960, besides being the Executive Committee
Member of K.P.C.C. From 1958 to 1959, he was the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee and
from 1962 to 1963, the Chairman of Subordinate Legislation Committee. He had also served as
secretary to the Joint Parlamentary Party of Congress and PSP in the second Kerala Legislative Assembly
and had also been chairman of District Advisory Committee for Khadi and Village Industries. A renowned
co-operator too, Shri. Thomman had served as President of State Co-operative Union.
Shri. T.A. Thomman expired on 11.4.1984.
The Assembly paid its homage to him on 21.6.1984.
