T.A. MAJEED

 

Shri. T.A. Majeed, renowned CPI leader, was born in January, 1921 at Edava as the son of Shri. Abib Mohammed. Entering politics as an active worker of Indian National Congress, he later joined the CPI. He was elected to the Travancore – Cochin Legislative Assembly in 1952 and 1954.


Shri Majeed became elected to the first Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1957, from Varkala, as a CPI candidate. He was the Minister for Public Works and Information, from 5..4..1957 to 31..7..1959, in Kerala’s first Ministry headed by Shri.E.M.S.Namboodiripad. Subsequently in 1967, 1970 and 1977 also, he got elected from Varkala Constituency.


An active member of CPI State Council, Shri Majeed had served as the Chief Whip of United Front, in the Fourth and Fifth KLA, subsequently. Shri. Majeed had also served in the editorial staff of Prabhatham Daily, Malayala Rajyam Daily and Janayugom.


Smt. M.Khadija Kutty is his wife and they have one son and three daughters.


Shri. Majeed expired on 5..7..1980.


The Assembly paid its homage to him on 7..7..1980.
