Shri. S. Sarma upcoming CPI (M) leader, was born as the son of Shri. Sekharan on 24th October 1954.
Starting his political career through Students Federation in 1972, he had actively been involved in
various agitations by SFI and DYFI.
Becoming the District Secretary of DYFI in 1984, and its State President in 1986, he subsequently
became the Central Committee Member of DYFI from 1988 to 1995, DYFI State Secretary and All
India Vice-President and CPI(M) State Committee Member.
Shri. Sarma became elected to KLA in 1987 from Vadakkekara constituency, as a CPI (M)candidate.
In 1991 and 1996 also, he won the Assembly polls from the same constituency.
Shri. Sarma served as the Minister for Electricity and Co-operation in the E.K. Nayanar Ministry, from
25.10.1998 to 13.5.2001.
He also Chaired the Public Undertakings Committee from 1996 to 1998.
Smt. Asha is his wife.
