Shri. R. Sundaresan Nair, educationist and political leader, was born on 22nd April 1940 as the son
of Shri. M.Raghavan Nair.
A post graduate and Diploma holder in English teaching, he was very much associated with the N.S.S.
Entering politics as a student in 1957, he subsequently became active in the trade union field also.
He also worked for some time as Vice President of Kerala State Transport Ministerial Staff Association.
Shri. R.Sundaresan Nair became elected from Neyyattinkara constituency in the 5th and 6th KLA as an
NDP candidate.
Shri. Sundaresan Nair was the Minister for Health and Tourism from 28.12.1981 to 17.03.1982, in
the Ministry headed by Shri.K.Karunakaran. During his tenure as a Member of Legislative Assembly
he was the leader of NDP Parliamentary party.
He had served for some time also as Member of Kerala University Senate from 1975, and was Treasurer
of NDP. He also has to his credit a thesis ‘Sister Carrie’.
His wife is Smt.B.Leelakumari and they have two daughters and one son.
