Shri. R. Ramachandran Nair, NSS activist and political leader, was born as the son of Shri. P. Raghavan
Pillai and Smt. M.P. Kalyani Amma on 22-12-1934.
A lawyer by profession, he was connected with Communist movement in the beginning. Later joining
the Kerala Congress, he was an active member of Kuttanad Karshaka Sanghom. Shri. Nair who came
to public life through the NSS, later joined the NDP.
Shri. Ramachandran Nair became elected to the 9th KLA, from Aranmula constituency contesting
as an NDP member. Shri. Nair served as the Minister for Health in the Karunakaran Ministry from
24-6-1991 to 5-6-1994.
Besides being a Director Board member of NSS and Registrar of NSS Karayogams, he was also a
Member of Kerala University Senate.
His wife is Smt. P.N. Vanajakshi Amma and they have one son.
