Shri. P.P. George, senior Congress leader, was born on 25.07.1935 as the son of Shri. Poulose and Smt.Mary in Pudukkad, Trichur district.

He entered politics through the Indian National Congress. A teacher by profession,he had also been actively engaged in trade union activities since the fifties. During 1959-60 he had served as General Convenor, Trichur District Committee of Kerala Liberation Struggle movement and was Executive Committee Member of KPCC during 1965-2001. And during 1969-72, he served as Member of AICC.

Shri. P.P. George became elected to the 3rd Kerala Legislative Assembly from Chalakudy constituency as Congress party member. He was again elected from the same constituency in the 4th KLA also. Shri. George was elected, yet again to the 8th KLA in 1987 from Thiruvambadi constituency and to the 9th KLA in 1991 from Ollur constituency.

He served as the Minister for Agriculture in the Ministry headed by Shri.K.Karunakaran from 02.07.1991 to 16.03.1995. He continues to represent Ollur constituency in the 11th KLA. He is the Whip of Congress Parliamentary Party in the 11th KLA. He was the Secretary of Congress Parliamentary party during 1971-1977. During the 4th KLA, he was the Chairman of the Estimates Committee from 1976 to 1977. Shri.George has also served as the Director of KTDC from 1982 to 1986 and Vice-Chairman of Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board from 1986 to 1987.

A member of KPCC from 1962, he has been a member of the Senate and
Syndicate of Calicut University and an Executive Member of Kerala Agricultural University. At present a member also of AICC, Shri. George has held other important positions in the Congress party as well, and was President of Thrissur D.C.C. from 1981 to 1982 and the KPCC General Secretary from 1978 to 1998.

His wife is Smt. C.L.Reetha and they have one son and one daughter.
