Shri. P.J. Joseph, renowned leader and Chairman of Kerala Congress, was born on 10..6..1942 at Purapuzha, as the son of Shri. P.O. Joseph. Associated with agricultural and social activities since 1967, he had joined the Kerala Congress in 1968.

Shri. Joseph became elected to the 4th KLA from Thodupuzha constituency as a Kerala Congress member and continued to represent the same constituency in the 5th 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th KLA.

Shri P.J. Joseph held the portfolio of Home Affairs from 16.. 1.. 1978 to 15..9..1978 in the A.K. Antony Ministry. In the Ministries headed by Shri. K. Karunakaran he was the Minister for Revenue and Education from 28.12.1981 to 17..3..1982 and the Minister for Revenue and Housing from 24..5..1982 to 25..3..1987. From 20..5..1996 to 13-5-2001 he was the Minister for Education and Works in the Ministry headed by Shri. E.K. Nayanar.

Shri. P.J. Joseph also served as the Syndicate member of Kerala University and was the Chairman of Gandhiji Study Center. Though preoccupied with political responsibilities, he is interested in floriculture, farming and agriculture. He is a good singer as well.

Dr. Santha Joseph is his wife and they have three sons and one daughter.
