Shri. T.H.Musthaffa, senior Congress leader, was born as the son of Shri. T.K.M. Hydrose and Smt.
Fatima Beevi, on 7th December 1941, at Vazhakulam.
An active trade unionist, he entered politics while a student, and rose to prominence as an active
worker of Congress Party, holding high offices including President, Block Congress Committee, and
General Secretary, District Youth Congress Committee. He has also had the distinction of chairing
several political and trade union conferences held during 1970-75, at a relatively young age.
Shri. Musthaffa became elected to the KLA for the first time in 1977, from Aluva constituency, as a
Congress candidate. He was again elected to the KLA in 1982, 1987, 1991 and 2001 from
Kunnathunadu constituency.
Shri. Musthaffa has served as the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, from 2.7.1991 to 16.3.1995,
in the Ministry headed by Shri. K. Karunakaran .
Shri. Mustaffa acted as Pro-tem Speaker in 1982 and was also the Deputy Leader of Congress
Legislature Party twice, in 1982 and 1984. He has held important party positions as well, and was General Secretary ,DCC Ernakulam , President,
DCC Ernakulam, General Secretary, KPCC during 1978- 1983, Vice - President , KPCC during 1983-
1997. He was elected as Member, INTUC State Working Committee and National Council.
Shri. Musthaffa has also served as Vice-Chairman of Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board during
1982 - 1986, Director, Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank Ltd. and Director, Cochin International
Airport Authority, Nedumbassery. A former member of the Senate of Cochin University of Science and
Technology he is also President, Kerala State Co-operative Rubber Marketing Federation, Cochin,
besides heading several unions, societies and charitable institutions.
As one associated with social and cultural activities, he was Founder Member of Perumbavoor Fine
Arts Society and office bearer of several other organisations.
Smt. Refika Beegum is his wife and they have six sons and one daughter.
