Nambiar and Smt. Rugmini Amma on 11th December 1936 at Nedumbram.

A teacher by profession, he entered politics through the Youth Congress and later held important positions in the party.Shri. Ramachandran Master became elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1980 from Sultan’s Battery constituency. In 1982 and in 1987 also, he represented the same constituency. In 1991, 1996 and 2001 he was elected from Kalpetta constituency.

Shri. Ramachandran Master served as the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies in the Ministry headed by Shri. A.K. Antony from 3.5.1995 to 9.5.1996. He has also been the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, in the Ministry headed by Shri. Oommen Chandy,from 5.9.2004 to 14-1-2006. Shri. Ramachandran Master has also served at different times as Secretary, and later President, D.C.C. Kozhikode, Vice President, State INTUC, Secretary, Congress Legislature Party, and General Secretary, K.P.C.C.

Alongwith, he has been Member, Indian Coffee Board, President, Kerala Water Authority Employees Association, President, CWRDM Employees Association and President, Kerala State Retail Ration Dealers Association.

Smt. K. Padmini is his wife and they have three sons.
