Shri. K.T. George, lawyer and Congress leader, was born on July 20, 1929.
A leading criminal lawyer of the Parur Bar, he entered active politics in 1954 as an active member of
INC, and later became member of KPCC, KPCC Election Committee and AICC. He was also a member
of the Kerala University Senate.
Getting elected to the third KLA in 1967 and again to the fourth KLA in 1970 from Parur as a
Congress member, Shri. George was Chief Whip of Congress Legislature Party during 1967-69,
Chairman of Committee on Estimates during 1970-71 and the Deputy leader of Congress Legislature
Party.
Shri. K.T. George held the portfolio of Finance from 25.9.1971 to 3.4.1972 in the Ministry headed by
Shri. C. Achutha Menon.
His sad end came when he collapsed while speaking on the floor of the House on 3rd April, 1972. He
left behind, his wife Smt. Saramma George and three daughters.
The Assembly paid its homage to him on 5.4.1972.
