Shri. K. Radhakrishnan, young and upcoming leader from the Communist Party of India (M), was born
on May 24, 1964, as the son of Shri. M.C Kochunni and Smt. Chinna, at Pullikkanam, in Idukki
District.
Entering politics while being a student through the SFI, Shri. Radhakrishnan, a graduate, later served
as Thrissur District Committee Member and Thrissur District Secretariat Member. He was also in the
Executive Committee of the DYFI in Thrissur District.
He had to endure assault by the Police while leading student agitation against the educational policies
of the Government.
Shri. Radhakrishnan had been elected to Thrissur District Council in 1991 from Vallathol Nagar Division.
Shri. Radhakrishnan became elected to the 10 KLA in 1996 and to the 11th KLA in 2001, both from
Chelakkara Constituency. He served as the Minister for the Welfare of Backward and Scheduled
Communities from 20-5-1996 to 13-5-2001, in the Ministry headed by Shri. E.K. Nayanar.
As one actively involved in the problems of the agricultural labourers, Shri. Radhakrishnan has also
been an office bearer of the KSKTU in Thrissur district. Shri. Radhakrishnan is associated also with the literacy movement and activities of the Kerala Sastra
Sahitya Parishad.
At present he is a member of the DYFI State Committee.
