Shri. K.J.Chacko, senior Kerala Congress leader, was born as the son of Shri. Joseph on 3rd March
1930.
A law graduate, Shri.Chacko began his political career in his student days, as an activist of the Indian
National Congress. He had been detained in prison for participating in students movement in 1959.
He had been elected to the Changanassery Municipal Council and served as the Chairman from 1962
to 1967. He joined the Kerala Congress at its inception in 1964.
Shri. Chacko became elected for the first time as a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly in
1970, from Changanassery. He was again elected to the KLA in 1977 from the same constituency.
Shri Chacko was the Minister for Revenue and Co-operation from 16.11.1979 to 1.12.1979 in the
C.H.Mohamed Koya Ministry.
Shri. Chacko had also served as the Chairman of the Petitions Committee from 1974 to 1975.
Smt. P.U.Thressiakutty is his wife and they have one son and three daughters.
