Shri. K.E. Ismail, senior CPI leader, was born on 10th September 1941 as the son of Shri. K.C.Ebrahim.
He entered politics through the students movement in 1956. Later, during 1962-64 he served in the
Indian Army. However, he was dismissed from service for being a Communist. He is actively associated
with the farmer’s union affiliated to the Communist Party of India.
Shri Ismail became elected to the 7th Kerala Legislative Assembly from Pattambi constituency as CPI
member. He continued to represent Pattambi constituency in the 9th and 10th KLA. From 20.5.1996
to 13.5.2001 he served as the Minister for Revenue in the Ministry headed by Shri. E.K. Nayanar.
Apart from being the General Secretary of the Kerala State Karshaka Thozhilali Federation he has been
at different times, Assistant Secretary, CPI State Council, and Member, State Executive Committee
and National Council of CPI.
His wife is Smt. M.K. Sabi, and they have two sons and one daughter.
