Shri. Avukaderkutty Naha, veteran leader of the Muslim League, was born in February 1920 to Shri
Kunjikoyanutty Haji.
After School education, he ventured into political arena through Muslim league. During the course of
a long political career, he served as Vice-President, Indian Union Muslim League, Kerala State Committee,
and President, Kerala State Swathanthra Thozhilali Union.
He had been elected also as a member of the Malabar District Board in 1954.
Shri. Naha became elected to first KLA from Thirurangadi Constituency. He remained a member from
first KLA to seventh KLA, contesting from the same constituency throughout.
Shri Naha was also the Minister for Panchayat and Community Development in the EMS Ministry from
9..11..1968 to 21..10..1969. From 1..11..1969 to 1..8..1970 he was the Minister for Local
Administration in C. Achutha Menon Ministry, and later in the second Achutha Menon Ministry also, he
was the Minister for Food & Local Administration from 4.. 10.. 1970 to 25..3..1977. Again, he served
as the Minister for Local Administration in the K. Karunakaran Ministry and in the succeeding Ministry
headed by Shri. A.K. Antony. In the P.K. Vasudevan Nair Ministry also, he was the Minister for Local Administration for one year. Shri. Avukaderkutty Naha was the Deputy Chief Minister of Kerala from
October 24, 1983 to March 25, 1987.
In the course of a long public life, he also served as Deputy Leader, Muslim League Legislature Party
during 1980-82. He was the Chairman of House Committee during 1960-62 and Public Undertakings
Committee during 1982-83.
Married to Smt. P.K. Kunjibeebi Umma, they have 7 daughters and 3 sons including Shri. P.K. Abdu
Rabb, M.L.A.
Shri Naha passed away on August 11, 1988.
