Shri. E.K.Imbichi Bava, veteran Communist leader, was born on 20.7.1917 as the son of Shri. Abdulla. Entering politics at an early age through the student Movement, he had been an active worker of the Congress Party and later, the Congress Socialist Party , before he joined the CPI in 1940.
He had also been imprisoned for political activities on a number of occasions and even had to work underground, for 2 ½ years during 1945-52 and again for six months, later in 1965, while an MP. During his long and eventful career as a political and trade union leader, he has held important positions in CITU as District president , Malappuram and Member of its All India Working Committee. He also served as Palakkad District Secretary of CPI(M) . He was also a member of CPI (M) Kerala State Secretariat.
Shri.Imbichi Bava was elected to the 3rd KLA from Mannarghat constituency as CPI(M) member. He served as the Minister for Transport in the EMS Ministry from 6.3.1967 to 1.11.1969. He also handled the portfolio of Jail, Archaeology, Museum and Zoo.
Shri Bava had been a Member of both the Houses of Parliament as well previously , serving as a Member of Rajya Sabha during 1952-54 and as a Member of Lok Sabha in 1962 and 1980. After a gap, he was elected also to the 9th KLA from Ponnani Constituency.
His wife is Smt. Fathima and they have 4 sons and 1 daughter.
Shri. Imbichi Bava expired on 11.4.1995 while serving as a Member.
The Assembly paid its homage to him on 24.4.1995.
