Shri. E.P. Poulose, senior Congress leader, was born on October 2, 1909 at Ramamangalam,
Muvattupuzha. After graduation, he obtained a law degree in 1933 and took up practice as a lawyer.
After joining the Indian National Congress, Shri. Poulose had participated in the freedom movement,
early in 1935 and had also been imprisoned in 1946 in this connection, for a short period. Elected
to Travancore Legislative Assembly in 1948, Shri. Poulose was subsequently elected to the first and
second KLA from Ramamangalam as a Congress candidate.
Shri. E.P. Poulose also served as the Minister for Food and Agriculture from February 22, 1960 to
September 26, 1962 in the Ministry headed by Shri. Pattom A. Thanu Pillai. During the R. Sankar
Ministry, he held the same portfolio from September 26, 1962 to September 10, 1964.
Shri. Poulose had very much been actively involved in the growth of Co-operative movement in the
state.
Shri. E.P. Poulose passed away on November 17, 1983.
The Assembly paid its homage to him on December 12, 1983.
