Shri. P. Cyriac John, senior Congress leader, was born as the son of Shri John on 11-6-1933.

An active worker of INC from 1952, Shri Cyriac John became elected to the fourth Kerala Legislative Assembly from Kalpetta constituency as a Congress (R) member. Subsequently he was elected from the Thiruvambadi constituency thrice, to the 5th, 6th and 7th KLA as a Congress Member.

In the Ministry headed by Shri. K. Karunakaran, Shri Cyriac John was the Minister for Agriculture from 24-5-1982 to 29-8-1983.

He had a long association with the co-operative sector and had served as President of Service Cooperative Bank, Thamarassery and the President of Kerala State Co-operative Marketing Federation. He was also a Member of the Indian Rubber board.

Besides, he had served as Member, KPCC Executive and as President of Karshaka Congress State Committee, the farmers’ wing of the KPCC. He has also been the State President of N.C.P.

His wife is Smt. Annakutty and they have 3 sons and 2 daughters.
