Shri. C.K. Nanu, senior Janata Dal leader, was born as the son of Shri. C.K. Kunjappu and Smt.
Chiruta on 6.9.1937 in Badagara.
Starting his political activites in 1958, as a Congress Seva Dal volunteer and as KSU and Youth
Congress leader, Shri. Nanu later joined the Janata Party in 1977 and became one of its General
Secretaries, and later of the Janata Dal. As one who had participated in the National Youth Congress
meeting held at Lucknow against Emergency, he had been arrested and detained in the jail for 21
days, during that period.
Shri. Nanu became elected to the 10th and 11th KLA from Badagara constituency contesting as Janata
Dal (Secular) member.
Shri. Nanu was the Minister for Forests, Transport and Devaswom in the Ministry headed by Shri. E. K.
Nayanar from 17.2.2000 to 13.5.2001. He is presently the Leader of the Janata Dal Parliamentary
party.
His wife is Smt. P. Madhavi and they have two sons.
