Shri. B. Wellingdon, political and trade union leader, was born in 1928.
After graduation, he started life as a teacher and later entered into political activities.
Entering politics through the Students’ Congress, he became an active trade unionist, and was one of
the pioneers of the INTUC in Quilon. Later, associating with Anti- Communist Front in 1956, he was
elected President of its Kerala Unit. He broke away, subsequently, from Congress in 1961.
Shri Wellingdon was elected from Kalpetta constituency to the 3rd KLA and from Palluruthy constituency
to the 4th KLA as KTP candidate.
He handled the portfolio of Health from 06-03-1967 to 20-10-1969, in the Ministry headed by Shri.
E.M.S.Namboodiripad.
He had also served as the General Secretary of KTP and Secretary of Malanad Karshaka Union.
Smt. Elizabeth is his wife.
