Shri. K.B.Ganesh kumar, political leader and noted cine artist, was born on 25th May 1966 as the son of Shri. R. Balakrishna Pillai, veteran leader, and Smt. Valsala Balakrishna Pillai.

Actively associated with the Association of Malayalam Movie Actors (AMMA), Shri. Ganesh Kumar, a Commerce Graduate, became elected to the 11th Kerala Legislative Assembly contesting from Pathanapuram constituency as a KC (B) candidate.

Shri. Ganesh Kumar had served as the Minister of Transport, from 17.5.2001 to 9.3.2003, in the Ministry headed by Shri. A.K. Antony.

Dr. Yamini Thankachi is his wife and they have one son.
