Kavya Madhavan was born in September, 1984 in Kerala, India and started acting at the age of 7 in 1991. Her debut film was "Pookkalam Varavayi". Madhavan’s breakthrough movie, was “Chandanudikkunna Dikkil”, this progressed Madhavan to superstar status and was released in 1999.
Kavya Madhavan is predominantly recognized for her work in the Malayalam film industry. Kavya Madhavan has been a prolific actress, recording nearly 50 films so far in her career. Kavya Madhavan has appeared in a few Tamil films. Movie Analysts speculate that Kavya Madhavan is reluctant to accept many Tamil film roles due to the skin revealing dresses said to be demanded by the Tamil film industry.
Kavya Madhavan follows a long list of Indian actresses who have become involved in scandals. Others include Nayantara, Namitha, Malavika, Veda aka Archana, Anushka and Trisha.
She is known for her devotion to charity and has spent both her time and money helping charities through the Kavya Madhavan Foundation. She will appear in the movie China Town which will start production in May 2010.
